How could we forget?
In the U.S., someone dies every 19 minutes from a prescription drug overdose, according to a story just carried by UPI. That's the thrust of a new report from the Centers for Disease Control which found about 27,000 OD deaths in 2007. High-powered prescription drugs, namely opioid analgesics, lead to more OD deaths than heroin and cocaine combined, according to the CDC. The report lists monthly use of opioids, prescribed to about 9 million people, with another 5 million using them without a prescription. To see the story <click here>
