I have praised SAMHSA here before. They have announced a new definition for "recovery," as it related to substance disorders, which hopefully will be a better guide to service providers and policy makers in their efforts. The new definitions describes "Recovery" as "A process of change through which individuals improve their health and wellness, live a self-directed life, and strive to reach their full potential." A hoped-for result of the definition is that it would foster improved services to those dealing with addiction, as well as a better understanding by the public of this issue. The new definition is the subject of an article in the Behavioral Health Newsletter published by Promises Treatment Centers. To read the article <click here>
