The past few days have brought a number of stories about the possible marketing of a 'super' concoction of hydrocodone that, according to the reports, could take the problems with the present array of pain-killers to new and higher levels. Various drug experts, a couple senators and others are speaking out. The new medication is presently working its way through the FDA approval process, has been given the trademarked name 'Zohydro' and is being manufactured offered by Zogenix, Inc. In addition to Zogenix, a couple other pain medication manufacturers are reportedly looking at their own versions of the super pill.
In a change from typical preparations, the new medicine would contain pure hydrocodone at a concentration as much as 10 times stronger than presently used formulations which contain lesser amounts of the narcotic in combination with other, less powerful, medications. Concerns have been voiced that it would be much more potent than oxycodone and hydrocodone treatments now available.
