Oxycodone to be tested on kids as young as six
A clinical trial involving treating kids as young as six years old with oxycodone is in the works. According to information a National Institutes of Health website, Purdue Pharma is doing a study involving children from ages six to 16 who have moderate to severe malignant and/or nonmalignant pain which requires opioid medications. Information on the NIH's ClinicalTrials.gov website shows an estimated 154 kids participating in the study which involved twice-a-day doses; with daily intake ranging from 20 mg to 240 mg. The government identifier number for the study is NCT01192295.
