It's not news that women and men are different. If in doubt, as your spouse or sweetheart. Involvement with drug dependence and addiciton work has led me to a stong feeling that addictions and substance use work differently in different individuals. Now, word comes that the addiction to cocaine is different between women and men. A study at the School of Medicine at Yale made comparisons
among cocaine-dependent users of both sexes and a control group of recreational drinkers. The results seem to show that stress is connected to women craving cocaine while drug cues (memories, feelings, etc., related to cocaine) had the same result in men. The research may suggest that dealing with cocaine dependence among women might concentrate on stress-reduction efforts while men might get more benefit from cognitive therapy or 12-step programs. The research study is to be published in the American Journal of Psychiatry. An article is at psychcentral.com <click here>
