Sundance contest winner... A 'must see'
A compelling documentary film earned a major award at the Sundance Film Festival and, from here, it looks like it could become an important step in this country's dealing with substance issues. The film, titled The House I Live In, was produced by Eugene Jarecki and tells the story of what is called America's War on Drugs. It takes a critical look at the decades-long process; assesses the costs in various tallies of money, resources and human lives; argues that the whole process is a failure and points out the entrenched interests that profit from keeping the effort moving. The film won the top documentary prize at Sundance but is not yet out for wider audiences. You can bet that there will be a distribution agreement in place soon. It is at the top of the 'must see' list here. For a review and more details, take a look at Amy Goodman's Democracy Now. To check it out <click here>
