Fight sugar addiction with a tax on kids!
Addictions are serious and we often express the feeling that just about anthing can be addictive. Generations of moms would testify that kids' sweet tooths can lead to problems. Health experts and public policy folks have waged wars to free schools of vending machines that pump the sweet stuff into children. The scholarly publication Nature has a piece in its current issue describing it a problem as serious as those involved with tobacco and alcohol and calling for special taxes to be levied sweets and soft drinks and restricting their access to under-age kids. A good write up by Jill Provost is posted over at iVillage <click here>
